Heidi mentored a young at-risk student for seven years in the Davenport School District. She visited her at school once a week for lunch and also spent time with her on the weekends.

In 2015, the two of them were awarded “The Most Amazing Match Award” from the STAARS Foundation in the school district. One of the proudest days of Heidi’s life was watching her mentee walk across the stage to accept her diploma from Davenport Central High School. She is now a single mother of two and Heidi still mentors her and her children.

In 2020, Heidi was honored and humbled to accept the Quad-Cities Athena Leadership Award.
