Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is a small Pre-K through 8th grade elementary school in Bettendorf, Iowa. It makes me smile to begin every week by volunteering there on Monday mornings. I first help in Mrs. Driscoll’s 6th grade math class. I love working one-on-one with the students! It makes me feel so great to see the “lightbulb” come on in a student’s eyes after I help with a percentage question or a tough story problem.
After math, I report to Mrs. Wick’s Kindergarten room. The children are such a delight! Wide-eyed and full of wonder, I help guide them in counting blue balls on their worksheets and on perfecting their penmanship. I’m passionate about unearthing the next big trend in investing for my clients, but these simple joys spent over an hour or so every Monday morning feed my soul.
